conseguir/poder (fazer algo); pedir para (fazer algo); fazer (alguém) (fazer algo); convencer/persuadir a (fazer algo) - (Get to, trad. própria). Este verbo frásico é usado no sentido de:
1. receber permissão ou a oportunidade de fazer algo, esp. o que é desejável e fora do comum. ✰ After weeks of asking, I finally got to leave work early on Friday. (Depois de semanas pedindo, finalmente consegui sair do trabalho mais cedo na sexta-feira.)
2. instruir ou pedir a alguém que faça algo. ✰ "Please get the kids to clean up the playroom. It's an absolute mess!" (Ibidem). (Por favor, peça às crianças para limparem a sala de jogos. Está uma verdadeira bagunça!)
3. forçar, obrigar ou coagir alguém a fazer algo, esp. desagradável. ✰ They got the troublemaker to apologize in front of everyone, even though he didn’t want to. (Eles fizeram o encrenqueiro se desculpar na frente de todos, mesmo que ele não quisesse.)
4. convencer ou persuadir alguém a fazer algo. ✰ The mother finally got her son to try sushi, even though he was hesitant at first. (A mãe finalmente convenceu o filho a experimentar sushi, embora ele tenha hesitado no início.)
