agir por conta própria / com independência; não seguir o roteiro esperado - ✰ "The most dangerous man in the world has gone rogue and he knows where all the bodies are buried." (Fuge). (O homem mais perigoso do mundo age por conta própria e conhece todos os malfeitos.)

O termo rogue é utilizado desde pelo menos 1835 para se referir a um elefante que se tornou violento, ger. por estar separado do seu rebanho ou por ter sido ferido. Originalmente, o termo tinha um significado mais específico, relacionado a comportamentos erráticos ou perigosos. Atualmente, é mais comum usá-lo para alguém que esteja agindo de forma independente ou fora do padrão esperado. (Shea, trad. própria).

ficar/sair impune/ileso - (Scot free). Esta expressão é usada nas acepções de:
1. ficar impune por algum crime ou infração cometida. ✰ "But due to lapses by the police Dhasvanth got statutory bail and went scot free for a few months." (Justice, 2018). (Mas devido a lapsos da polícia, Dhasvanth conseguiu fiança legal e ficou impune por alguns meses.)
2. ficar ou sair incólume ou ileso. ✰ Despite the severity of the accident, the driver miraculously went scot-free without even a scratch. (Apesar da gravidade do acidente, o motorista milagrosamente saiu ileso, sem nem um arranhão.)
