derrubar (algo); parar (de fazer algo); plagiar; fazer/concluir; assaltar/roubar; parar/pausar (o trabalho); reduzir o preço; derrotar/eliminar - (Knock something off). Este verbo frásico tem múltiplos sentidos:
1. derrubar algo, intencionalmente ou não. ✰ The guy was very clumsy, or he might be drunk—he knocked off his beer bottle off the counter. (O cara era muito desajeitado, ou talvez estivesse bêbado — ele derrubou a garrafa de cerveja do balcão.)
2. (gír.) parar de fazer alguma coisa. Geralmente, usado no imperativo. ✰ Knock it off, dude. (Corta essa, cara.)
3. (gír.) copiar (algo) sem autorização; plagiar. ✰ Caught copying large sections of the essay from an online source, it was clear that he had tried to knock off the work instead of writing it himself.
