Atualmente, piti é um termo bastante comum no Brasil. Quando queremos dizer que alguém teve um ataque histérico, dizemos “fulano teve um piti”. Segundo o Dicionário Informal, "piti" é uma redução de pitiatismo, entendido como um "[d]istúrbio secundário da histeria produzido ou eliminado por meio da sugestão". (Pitiatismo).
